How to Add Contacts from Gmail
Google has a robust system for managing their services, one of which is he syncing feature which allows you to have data from one device appear on another device. What this means is that if you make changes to that data on an iPhone, the changes will reflect on your Windows computer.
This is exactly what happens with Gmail too. Gmail like every other Google services lets you sync your data across device making them easy to access.
When people send you email and you receive them on your Gmail account, it is very easy to save their contacts. This is because Gmail stores their details and you can the use it to add that person to your contact list this way, you don’t need to manually enter their details, and then you can access that contact on all your devices. Here’s how to do that:
1. Go to the Gmail website and log into your Gmail account.
2. When it opens up, get to the email the person you want to add their contact sent. When you are on the email, hover your mouse over the name of the sender. Gmail will then bring up the menu.
3. Look over the menu and locate the Add to Contacts button that has an avatar icon and a plus sign.
4. Gmail will then add that contact to your account. You’ll see a message that reads Added.
You can also edit the new contact you just added by clicking the Edit Contact icon which is denoted by a pencil icon in the top-right corner of the contacts menu. The Google Contacts website will open up where you can proceed to edit the contact.
Manually Add a Contact to Gmail
There’s another way you can add a contact to Gmail. This is a manual method and is suitable if you have never gotten a message from that person. Here’s how to do it:
1. Go to the Gmail site and log in if you’ve not done so.
2. Navigate to the top-right corner in Gmail and click the Google Apps icon which is composed of mine dots.
3. You’ll see an array of Google apps from that menu. Select Contacts which will open the Google Contacts website.
4. The Google Contacts will show your contacts. Now, go to the menu on the left and select Create Contact. And then Create a Contact. You may also select Create Multiple Contacts if that what’s you’d like to do..
5. The Create New Contact will now be opened. In the window, input the details for the contact you wish to add.
6. Once all the details are there, click Save at the bottom.
You’ll see a message at the bottom that says New Contact Created.
Delete a Contact from Gmail
If you no longer want a contact on your account, you can delete it and you can do this from any device as the changes will be synced across all devices.
Here’s how to delete a contact from Gmail via Google Contacts.
1. On the Contacts page, select the contact you want to delete, or use the search bar at the top to search for the contact quickly.
2. You’ll see a window that has the contact’s details. Go to the top-right corner and click the three dots icon. From there select Delete.
You’ll see a message below in the screen that says Contact Deleted and this confirms that the contact has been deleted.
