How to fix audio and video out of sync in MX Player
MX Player
It is a great lightweight video player that supports almost all video format and codecs.
The MX Player is one of the most popular Android Operating System Video Player
So, today we are going to learn how to fix audio and video out of sync using the MX Player. Syncing of audio and video are processes that should have taking place during the editing process. Most modern and good budget movies do not usually come with this problem, but old movies and some hard coded movies when been converted do have this syncing error. Some poorly edited movies and just some recorded speeches might come having this problem.
In fact, some of the audio and video sync (synchronization) problem might occur due to change of frame rate while editing or when converting the video from one format to another.
So this tutorial will guide us on how to fix audio and video out of sync with the MX Player player
In order to sync audio on your MX Player, You need to change the decoder from HW Decoder to either HW+ decoder or SW decoder.
To Change the decoder, touch the MX Player Screen and on the top right hand corner, you will see HW, touch it and select either HW+ Decoder or SW Decoder.
These are the processes that is needed to be taken to sync audio to video on MX Player.
1) First of all, launch the MX Player Player. (Open the video, you want to synchronize (sync) the audio and video).
2) Touch the screen of the player, on the upper right corner, you will see a three dotted line, Click on it (Where the orange box is).
3) A drop down menu will open, Click on Audio
4) Another Drop down menu will open, Click on Synchronization
5) You can use either the minus (-) or plus (-) or enter the amount of seconds
minus (-) : Moves the audio to a faster time as shown, that is it is to be used when audio is slower than video.
Plus (+) : Moves the audio to a lower time as shown, that it is to be used when audio is faster than video
So hope you have been able to fix your out of sync audio and video using the MX Player.

When I select the SW decoder option, it says I don’t have it. How does one get a SW decoder on their android / MX player? Thank you for all your help. Your article is incredibly helpful.
Tim says
It is a software decoding.

mr, Leo, your answer is stupid

I don’t understand your instructions; plus, I can’t believe you first told me to start the app then load a video. Thank you Capt Obvious.
Based on the first 2-3 paragraphs, it seems like this was written more as a plug for MX Player than as a tutorial on how to correct something.
What do you mean “if the audio is faster” or if the “audio is slower”? Did you mean “if the audio is EARLIER THAN/LATER THAN, or AHEAD OF/BEHIND OF the video”?
After all, both the audio and video are running at the same speed; they are just “out-of-sync” and are not starting at the same times.
Please correct the wording on this so-called help page. Thank you.
